RPi-W7: Circuit Upgrade

Hi to everybody. With this update new boards ProDIgY RPi-W7 have a strong PSU up to 5Vdc/4 Amps and a supplementary galvanic insulated PSU dedicated to the input side of circuit.

This was necessary to avoid all kinds of EMI/RFI interference from the field side running across the input cables.

Specifications:

This board includes:

  • Power Supply: Input 220Vac (Fused 0,5AT) – Output 5Vdc 4A (Fused 3.5AF);
  • Power Supply Galvanic Isolated for Digital Inputs: 5Vdc/200mA (Self Restoring Fuse 0.2A);
  • Digital Inputs: 12 DigInp (Common Ground Signal) Opto-Isolated and Schmitt Triggered, selectable Logic Inversion by DIP Jumper and with LED status, GPIO connection to Input Channels by DIP Jumpers;
  • Digital Outputs: 7 DigOut MOSFET ULN2004 driven for 5x Relays SRD-5Vdc, 2x RelaysFinder 44 Series 5Vdc for Motor Out (Fused 6AF max), GPIO connection on Output Channels by DIP Jumpers;
  • I2C bus: from default pins via two DIP Jumpers: 6x 4Pins (3V3, SCL, SDA, GND), 6x 4Pins (5V, SCL, SDA, GND) CMOS shifted from the I2C bus @3V3.
  • RTC DS3231 for RPi: connected via two DIP Jumpers on I2C bus @3V3;
  • Radio Receiver: up to 6-channels radio receiver from Aurel;

I2C bus:

By default the RPi I2C bus level voltage is 3.3Vdc but sometimes you have the need to use a device with 5Vdc (not 3.3Vdc as RPi) I2C signals voltage, so a level shifter using two MosFets was installed to communicate with these devices.

Now the I2C bus starting from the RPi’s default pins has a couple of jumpers (J5 and J6):

while shorting with a cap, the bus connection is between the main 3v3Vdc I2C bus (I2C_31 to I2C_36 4pins connectors) to RPi defaut pins with the relative 5Vdc bus (I2C_51 to I2C_56 4pins connectors).

If you intend using other pins as your choice you can simply remove the cap on the jumpers and wiring it with usual short cable female.

As you can see, the RTC has furthers DIP Jumpers to be able to connect on the main I2C bus or, if jumpers caps are removed, to other pins as your choice.

Motor Output Relays Contacts Interlocked

Now these relays are with double contacts.

The second contact let flow the power, in normal condition as OFF state, to power the counterpart relay.

The electric interlock on the motor power section is very important. It prevents short circuit or other accidental situations (a contact relay fused or software failure etc. etc.)
